Lyrics
Haven’t You Heard
It came raining down from the heavens to the deep
Earth swelled as it gave birth once again
And in a dazzling display of fortitude
I arose delicate and plain
Like a petal givin’ birth to a dew drop
I had arrived to twinkle in the sun
And with the strength of ten thousand voices
Singing the gospel, I had begun
To make a mess of everything
I began to tear it down
And throw convention out the door
Now it’s easy when you’re a child to be innocent and sweet, to throw caution to the wind
But as the chosen one continued to grow up
I was fed a bitter treat
My strengths became the center of ridicule and laughs
I thought society had thrown me for a loop
But as the years went on and my shell became strong
Protecting me from the people that I’d meet
I’d say...this ain’t the way it ought ta be
I’d cry out loud when there was no one else around
Haven’t you heard...
